Our client, one of Calgary’s top builders, is seeking a passionate Safety Advisor to join their team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in fostering a culture of safety and ensuring compliance with the company’s Health and Safety Management Program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to the Health and Safety Management Program.
  • Assist in maintaining the company’s Certificate of Recognition (COR).
  • Maintain safety documentation, including reports and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Organize and oversee safety training programs, ensuring records are up to date.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to identify and address non-compliance issues.
  • Participate in health and safety inspections, completing all required reporting.
  • Assist in investigating accidents and injuries, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship on safety practices and concerns.
  • Develop and revise Safe Work Practices (SWP), Safe Job Procedures (SJP), and training materials.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in safety advisory roles, with at least 3 years in local construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Expertise in accident investigation and corrective action implementation.
  • Proficiency in managing safety documentation, including MSDS, reports, and training records.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing reports and resolving non-compliance issues.
  • Exceptional communication skills for mentoring staff and collaborating with contractors.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective safety training programs.
  • A valid Provincial Driver’s License is required.
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is considered an asset.
